Get answers to common questions about Body Wave.
A Body Wave generally lasts three to six months depending on hair growth, texture, and care routine. Proper maintenance and moisture-rich products extend longevity, while touch-ups or re-perms are suggested when roots grow out or wave definition fades.
When performed by a trained stylist using professional formulas and proper timing, a Body Wave minimizes damage. Pre-service consultation, strand testing, and post-treatment conditioning help protect hair and reduce the risk of breakage.
You can color before or after a Body Wave, but sequencing matters. We usually recommend coloring at least two weeks prior or waiting until hair has recovered post-perm. Discuss with your stylist to avoid over-processing and ensure safe results.
Use gentle, sulfate-free shampoo, moisturizing conditioner, and weekly deep treatments. Avoid harsh brushing when wet; use a wide-tooth comb. Limit heat styling, use heat protectant, and sleep on silk to preserve wave shape and reduce frizz.
Wave size depends on the rod selected by your stylist. Larger rods create soft, loose waves while smaller rods make more defined curls. We'll recommend rod size based on hair length, texture, and your desired finished look.
It can be suitable, but prior chemical treatments need careful evaluation. We perform strand tests and may adjust processing. In some cases corrective conditioning or alternative services are recommended to protect hair health.
